This is a belt (gwadae—a belt symbolizing power and wealth) from the Silla era found in Cheonmachong. Cheonmachong had been called Gyeongju Ancient Tomb No. 155, but through excavation in 1973, many relics such as gold crowns and bracelets were discovered along with Cheonmado (Painting of Heavenly Horse on a Saddle Flap), so it was called Cheonmachong.Gwadae is a belt made of fabric with a rectangular metal plate attached to the surface. The length is 125 cm, and the length of the belt pendant (yopae) is 73.5 cm.
Gwadae connected 44 plates with pierced decorations, and there were 9 holes around it to be fixed to the leather, and belt rings (gyogu) were attached to both ends. The ornaments hanging from the gwadae are connected by 13 rows of oval gold plates and square gold plates.
